Stumbled on this while googling C. Nelson (I can never remember the name of your school and I wanted to link you!).
I'm here to play and learn and explore. All of the people I admire for their skills are here, so it must be a good place to be!

Lately I have installed Moodle which is a kind of e-learning platform where teachers cant setup entire course content and have the students to enroll in their class, check it out at moodle.org. I have installed it on my web server at school running on Apache with the xampp package (really cool package for everybody like me who comes from a Microsoft platform background). The installation went very smooth, I had to go and change some settings in my php.ini file but other than that it was a…

I’m in a session with Donna Desroche from North Battleford. She was a library technologist and, just recently became a technology coordinator.
She was having a great time doing this presentation!
Institutional Context - Comprehensive Community School that is very
diverse with an alternate option and AP courses. The school was using
Linux/redhat - made the change in 2000. This created…

Hi everbody. I think that this post may give a good discussion since society and education is under a turnover, as new technologies such as social software appear to be the most important cause of this changing paradigm. As Steve Hargadon wrote on his blog, school and most of all educational forms as we know them are based on reading and receiving content from the teacher. Unfortunately, "The Age of…

I’m at the TLt IT Summit2007 in Saskatoon, SK. Ian Jukes is the opening keynote speaker talking about the need to move education from where it is to where it needs to be. Through the keynote, he
constantly refers to the need for educators to acknowledge the world of
the kids where it is now. Educators were not trained to teach the way
that these students are learning. To engage these students there…

I was running through my Google Reader this morning when I came across this post from Scott McLeod. Actually, it's more like a question for reflection than a post.
Given the realities of our modern age and the demands of our children's future, is it really okay to allow teachers to choose whether or not they incorporate modern technologies into their
instruction?
Of course, there are posts…

authorGEN is relatively new concern, trying to create a niche for itself as a complete online education solution provider. It has many products in their intial and early stages of a complete solution.
www.authorgen.com lists authorPOINT, a desktop presentation capturing tool which allows you to capture your video and narrate your powerpoints while it captures the lesson. You can annotate and use pointer on the slides as you do on a blackboard in…

I have read everything I can possibly get a hold of on Web 2.0 and integrating technology into education. I have attended conferences, held PD sessions for teachers and spoke to so many people I have lost count. What's the problem then? The pace of educational change seems to be so slow compared to technological change. I am beginning to wonder if, inside the walls of schools, the 21st century is really here?
But, I see the future of education. I read the blogs and listen to the…
