I agree with Shamini! I have also used social networking with students in the middle school. Students appear to transition seamlessly between the virtual world and the classroom.

I've used social networking with students - and the biggest barrier is getting them to use it outside of the classroom. BUT ... I found that if we use it in class to do stuff like take photos or video group work and post them right away to…

About Me
I am an independent consultant focused on helping school districts change teaching and learning to match` the 21st Century brains. I am located outside of Chicago in RL, but on EduIslandll in SL. I am constantly learning, changing and thinking about the future of education. I feel as if I am resurfacing from a mucky dive after giving 5 ½ years to my local School Board. I have handed in my gavel and look forward to reengaging in the quest to change teaching and learning.

Hi Meg. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Meg! Great to see you again at the conference. I am recharged and ready to bring some great ideas into the classroom! It's worth the fight watching what the kids can do!!! Thanks for the advice too! :-)

I was excited to check it out after your presentation last Friday. I'm becoming quite the technophile. :) Thanks for all the great tools. I can't wait to try skyping next!

I'll tell Dan you said hi! I did check out your tech camp, only briefly though. I checked out SL too after reading your comments. What an awesome program. Do you have documnetation on the educaitonal benfits of SL? I am dreaming up some new programs for my middle school kids and am tempted to include it. Teri

Hi, Meg,
I will have to put some time into SL and get more comfortable but do see the possibilities for learning on that platform.
Just turned on my iPhone and will be exploring its use in the coming weeks. Thanks for your welcome!

Hi Meg,
Thanks for the invite. I am glad to get to know you and your blog. I just read it and found it interesting and enjoyable. I am especially interested in your SL postings, being a brand new visitor, Rosario Rasmuson. I have ventured in once or twice, but am still pretty lost.
Anyway, am adding your blog to my feed and will enjoy keeping up with you.
