Collaborating for REAL Student Improvements!

As you visit/join this Distance Collaborations Group, you may want to give a few stats about yourself and your education position to let new/old group members know how they can collaborate with you.

Additionally, here's a terrific project where high school and college students can collaborate locally AND globally. There are infinite possibilities out there!

Marie,
The Enabling Support Foundation is a non-profit with projects in Pakistan, Morocco, Cameroon, Australia, and the Caribbean. You students could interact with them via email or involvement on joint projects. We are in the process of developing an Art curriculum for K-12 and we are building the Archive of Myth and Legend a resource for folk tales+ on the web and sponsor of new fold material created by students.

Hi all - this group sounded like the perfect place to collaborate with other teachers about my new non-profit organization- Project Global Inform (project-inform.org). I've also set up a group for PGI on Classroom 2.0, so feel free to join if you are interested in learning more.

Along with PGI, I've also been a teacher in the Flat Classroom Project this past year, with over 70 of my students participating, creating, and collaborating with students from Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia and in the US (New Jersey and Vermont). It was a huge success and my students loved it. Looking forward to collaborating with all of you!

My name is Larry Langley. I teach high school students (ages 13-18) in the following subjects: journalism, English language arts, theater arts, reading (7th grade) and yearbook. The name of our school is Rocksprings High School located in Rocksprings, TX 78880, population 1285. We have 293 students enrolled in grades PK-12. The majority of my students are Hispanic.
I want to involve my students in a cross-cultural experience this year using many kinds of technology (building a web site, pod casting, video casting, digital photography and so on). Therefore, I would like to know what projects some of you are involved with this coming school year. Please email me to let me know about projects.

This could certainly help your cause to communicate, if you like it, you can create your own. Hope it helps! And I certainly don't mean the content, I mean the journaling system used. http://www.iteachtoo.com/index.cfm?go=journal.viewpublic&Journa...

I would love to find English speaking elementary schools in the upper northern hemisphere, around the equator, and in the lower southern hemisphere to share information about weather and their environment, plants and animals. The major environments we study are the polar regions, tropical rain forests, rivers and streams, swamps, and deserts. We'd love to have live input or communicate with classes from these types of regions. Not only would I love our classes to share academically, but also in understand cultural diversity and develop international perspective. I look forward to hearing from you!

Morning all!
I am a Year One Teacher in a Hong Kong international School. I am really interested in setting up some links around the world with children and teachers that we can collaborate with in any shape or form. We are a PYP school so to be able to 'connect' with other Year One PYP classes would be fantastic!
Look forward to hearing from you!
Have a great day!!
Neil

Come to Yale this summer July 19-21st to participate in an exciting 21st Century Conference for educators. Yale will debut an exciting new K-12 Mutt-i-grees Curriculum which incorporates Social Emotional Learning and can be easily integrated into any classroom. Cesar Milan (the Dog Whisperer) and his wife Ilusian Milan... (who generously support this new curriculum) will be present. To find more, or register for this wonderful opportunity visit the conference web site: http://www.yale.edu/21c/current_conference.html

I am looking for collaborators from law/government classes that would like to compare state criminal laws to PA and TN. This will be the second year for this collaboration and we would like to expand it to include other states. All information will be housed in a wiki and a discussion board will be created, as well. A possible videoconference may result as well. Please contact me at dlaur@cysd.k12.pa.us for more information.
