About Me:
I am a retired Coast Guard Warrant Officer (1996) and have dedicated my life since then to working with kids, I am a Special Education teacher who teaches English and co-teaches History at a small private school that serves students who have not been successful in the public school system. During this school year, I found that I was not reaching my students as well as I should and wanted to make things better for them, so I started looking into "stuff" I could do to help them more and found Web2.0 and the technology coordinator at school (I believe he is getting tired of seeing me come around :) but I am becoming a convert and what totally convinced me was the excitement I saw in an 18 year old student who said "Mr. Shaw I've never sent an Email before, this is so cool." So I believe that I am headed in the right direction after this "aha" moment. Oh yeah some of the things I like to do outside of school are run/jog (getting older, I am not as fast as I used to be), day hike, just hang out with my Wife Mary, our six cats, and a dog.

Hi Everyone

FYI - You will notice that I have a lot of videos on my profile page, I have found that I learn best visually and that many of the kids that I teach learn this way as well. Therefore, I am gathering up videos that I plan to use either in my classroom or when I am asked to present a topic at a professional development. -- Harold

Hi Harold. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Harold,
Yes, I come through Sidney every once in awhile. Nice to meet you online and perhaps sometime in person. I like your posted videos - can I cross-post some in my network?

Thanks very much, Harold, well I didn't play the video to the end! So now I will and figure out who to ask.

Sandy Hook is probably 45 minutes or so away from here and has great birding, doesn't it!

Thanks for accepting my friend request and I look forward to finding more videos and other things from you,

Pamela

Harold, I am enjoying very much your videos. I'm wondering if you would allow me to show the Group Testing video before the NEA later this month? One of the issues I'm presenting on is standardization in view of personalization - and so alternate ways for testing is a great example. Thanks for your time - Pamela livingstonp@mac.com
