Hi everyone. This is a shot in the dark....but I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a podcast with me. A little background...
I want to start a podcast. I recorded episode 1 last night. You can check it out at :
http://theteacherslife.mypodcast.com/index.html

I really thought it would be cool if I collaborated with someone. I thought it might be cool to get someone from my school, but I'm not sure if anyone would want to do that.

So I'm reaching out to the classroom 2.0 community!!!

Check out the podcast and see if it's something you would want to do.

I was thinking that we could use Skype to pull it off. So you would need an account.

My Skype name is "Bobby2200". Contact me if you have any questions.

I have a third party program that works with Skype that records our conversations.

I figure we could easily do it that way and then I could take care of the uploading and what not.

I'm looking for someone....or maybe a few people that want to get involved. Again, check out the podcast and see if it's something you want to do.

I'm looking to have a lot of fun with it. We could talk about ANYTHING teacher related. I'm really into research and pedagogy....but also into simply telling stories about teaching. I want it to be a type of variety show. We could have _____ of the week, special guests....yadadayada.

I have submitted to iTunes and expect to have that cleared in at least the next few days.

I was also thinking of setting up a group in 2.0. It could be a place where if I have more than one person wanting to do it, we could all take turns. You know what, I think I'll start a group.....I'll call it "The Teacher's Life Podcast Community". Come join!!!

So, have you ever wanted to be a talk show host? Here's your chance:)

Please contact me through classroom 2.0 or skype.

Hope to hear from someone.
Thanks
Bobby

Just enjoyed listening to your first podcast. Have you tried any of the new applications for the ipod Touch 2.0 software? There are some great applications that could be integrated into a classroom. There are several ebook readers, organizer software, flashcards, news apps, etc. Add the ability to access the web via wireless connection and students have a world of information at their fingertips. One of my favorite software that keeps me "organized" is Evernote's application. I am constantly syncing websites, documents, photos, etc to Evernote so I can access it wherever I am. One of the coolest features is the OCR it uses, which basically takes any text within a photo and converts it to text and then indexes it to make it searchable.
Geez I know the are a ton of apps out there......the problem with me is that my district won't let me access the internet using my Touch at school:( Ohhh the sorrow!

What's a guy to do?????

I would love to use evernote, or even mobileme, but I can't have Outlook (from my school computer) sync up!

I kinda am in a syncing nightmare right now!
Hate to hear that. I couldn't go without have my touch synced to Exchange. I don't always have my laptop near and having the ability to use one calendar instead of many just makes it that much better.

The nice thing is that a lot of the apps do not rely on being online (except for the cool ones :) ). I'll be listening for any ways you are able to bring such an awesome piece of technology to the classroom.
Laptop time - I take my laptop to work so I can have FF instead of IE. I use Skype all the time, which the school won't download. Anything that doesn't work, we do on the laptop. It really is a BYOS (bring your own stuff) and DIY world. Next it will be BYOC (bring your own connection). Verizon and ATT both have those....
Listen to these podcasts: Moving at the Speed of Creativity He has been doing it for a while...and Driving Questions
If you do not have access to a laptop, you could also use portable programs from a flash drive. Skype will actually run directly from a flash drive (http://www.von-phone.com/portable-skype.php) as well as Firefox. Check out Portable Apps (http://portableapps.com/suite) to see other programs that run directly from a flash drive.
MArty.....that is an awesome discovery for me......thanks for sharing:)
Not a problem. Being a network engineer for a school system, I see a lot of ways our users "get around" our system. Personally, I believe in a compromise between security and educational value.
Happy to try this with you :)
