A good
buddy of mine is a
prodigous podcaster. He's also very
involved in this network. He's also one of my favorite mentors in the W2.0 world. He's shared all sorts of ideas and fueled fires for not only my my thinking, but also for my students. Recently, he's asked me to begin a podcast. I've got a podcast going for my students to show their…

One of the key principles of Web 2.0 is that through widespread collaboration and mass participation, the “wisdom of the crowds” emerges. Think Wikipedia’s self correcting
system.
Long before myspace, youtube, and Internet forums existed, people engaged in dialogue to expand understanding, test ideas and learn. From Socratic dialogue to the best classrooms of today,…

Well, we are almost ready to get back into the swing of things. In our district, all three of our buildings are under construction and we have already had to change the start date of school. I am eagerly ancipating when we can get into the buildings and get all of the computers and equipment set up. For now, it is just a waiting game and trying to do all of those things that don't require a network.
I am looking forward to this school year. I will not be responsible for teaching a 7th…

I would like to experiment with using a social network for middle school language arts. Since I am in the early stages of this sort of thing, I welcome any tips and advice. Here are my preliminary thoughts:
1. Right now, I think that my biggest hurdle will be to sell the idea to my principal, the other LA teachers and parents.
2. I need to articulate a clear purpose for this project.
3. Of course, I will also need to figure out expectations and…

I am the media specialist in a K-8 school. In the 07-08 I will be spending much of my time collaborating directly with classroom teachers and am searching for best practices and methods for integrating ed tech into these projects.

I am a first year teacher at a private school in Kansas City, Kansas. My subjects are computer skills and Gym for grades K-8. The gym I can handle but the Computer class has no manuel. I have to come up with lesson plans off the cuff, no book and ages range from K-8. I am looking for help with lesson plans in this age range. Or a good book to help, any direction or starting point, anything would help. Thank you for your help.

What a day - I wanted to put another video on dotsub, but I also wanted to convert a powerpoint to a video. In between getting sidetracked, I downloaded a program (Bytescout PPT to video free preview found on cnet) to convert my PowerPoint on PowerPoint to video, but I was not happy with the results for the particular presentation I had in mind. Actually the converter has so many options, I have more…

I'm glad to be part of this network, as I am looking for folks to share ideas and thoughts with. I am an elementary school librarian, trying to figure out the best tools touse for that age group, that will enhance their use of information sources, both electronic and paper-based.
I want to use the Forum section, to see what's up, and to ask my questions.
Hasta la proxima!

I read a forum about student networking and I shared the same concerns of safety, logistics, and collecting friends. It reminded me of a similar problem with a favorite science website – Ology…

Hi, Folks,
We're writers and teachers. Living since September '06 in rural France, we continue to write, teach classes in writing and screenwriting, and venture back to the States and to the UK now and then on reading and speaking tours with our books. (Please see our website, bluelupinpress.com)
Before she met Dan on the internet, moved to California's Sierra foothills and we were married, Jeanne was a Quaker chaplain in a men's prison in the UK. She also worked as a…

Hi all,
Hope everyone is having a great summer!
I just
posted some thoughts about Web 2.0 in education and the impact on educational reform. So many educators are being inspired by new tools and technology! It's an exciting time, and it feels like "something" is going to happen to change education. That's the good news... the bad news is that this is very similar to what happened when…

About 3 years ago Hachoresh Elementary School adopted a unique local landmark, The Maish Cave, which gets its name from a tree which grows through a "chimney" in the cave roof.
The Maish Cave Project is a whole school project. An outline website, in English, describing the project appears on Acts of Kindness - A summary of the project can be seen on…

I'm in Bonner Springs kansas at a LaQuinta Inn with my family after the MACE MTI conference, watching my kid swimming in the pool outside. My wonderful wife and I are in the air conditioned lobby but our line of sight is perfect. As I watch him scamper and play with friends he just met, I think about Classroom 2.0 and the online teacher community. Was it like this for you, that when you were a kid, you could make the "five minute"friend easily simply by virtue of having a pool in common. It…

In her post entitled Frustrating, life enhancing learning, educator and author Lisa Durff shares the frustrations and ultimate elations brought about as one embarks upon the attainment of new skills, knowledge, and levels of understanding. I've only just met Durff, but she has already left an indelible impression on me as an educator who is willing to stretch her boundaries and risk… Continue

Though my report date is not for two more weeks, I am already in the back-to-school mindset. Here are some of the things I need to do this week.
1. Make a trip to my school and start setting up. I've been moved to a different room, and figuring out how to arrange it is important to me.
2. Get back in touch with three colleagues who've already contacted me regarding planning for next year. We…
