Podcasting Reflections..

Our first school year in the Maze is coming to a close, and we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on how it has changed the way we learn. We have seen our students really benefit from the use of podcasts as an additional review tool. What have they told us? First, they like the ability to listen at times convenient to their schedule, and as frequently as they need to understand or remember the information. They also have found the podcasts to be extr… Continue

How are you using your iPod?

How are you using your iPod? As I write this blog post, I am listening to one of my favorite podcasts, TWIT, with Leo LaPorte! I am a major user of iPods personally and in the classroom, however, until I listened to a new podcast called Learning in Hand: iPod, by Tony V… Continue

How to create a simple podcast, part 1!

This is a cross post of my blog article discussing the way I create the "masterycasts" on MasteryMaze.com. It is the first part in a series designed for the teacher who has NO background in this! You can find it in the blog at MasteryMaze.com.

The Pale Blue Dot

I believe that education is one of the most, if not the most important profession; we truly impact the world every day through the lives of our students. In my blog on www.masterymaze.com, one of my posts is "The Pale Blue Dot" which discusses the importance of collaboration, sharing and mutual responsibility. As a preface I offer a view of one of my favorite YouTube videos entitled "The Pale Blue Dot", which offers an interesting reflection on the po…

I am from Ghana and I'm just here to learn, contribute as well as link up with like-minded people who will be willing to share their experiences as well as help in spreading the concept of distance learning and adult education to Africa, which lags behind as far as education is concerned. My company has developed a television program called 'ADULTS IN EDUCATION' which is used in teaching, especially adults, how to read and write as well as general tips on how to take care of oneself. We also treat social issues as well. Television is still the widest means of disseminating information to the rural folks ere in Ghana

I've started a Ning group for educators interested in developing collaborative enrichment programs at www.enrichment2.ning.com and a resources wiki for this purpose www.enrichment2.wikispaces.com Your podcasts are definitely one of our resources. Please feel free to join the group. Hopefully some of us will be able to provide you with some useful resources as well.

Hi Sue. I am really impressed by what you are doing and I am excited to implement some new ideas into my classroom. I thought you might be interested in checking out my site at www.SEEdebate.org. I am the founder of the site - we are a free current events discussion tool. We try to make it as easy as possible for teachers to use - and students are motivated by the social networking aspect of the site. I look forward to more of your ideas!!

Hi Sue. I saw your reply to Lorna's message about Parents as Partners. I connected with Lorna earlier - I am a master's students working in parent engagement. I'd love to see your resources in my wiki - Parent 2.0 that I've created for the work. It seems a much better and lasting alternative than writing papers!

Best regards,
Cindy

Thanks for the friend invite, Sue. I actually started my teaching career with at risk kids back in 1969. (Dating myself there.) That was back in the day before ADD, classifications, and all the paperwork jungle of today's world. That first year was the toughest, most rewarding year of my teaching career. I'm semi-retired now, devoting a lot of volunteer time to keeping kids safe online with WiredSafety.org. My internet safety blog is at http://www.3dwriting.com/wiredsafety/blog and my personal blog is http://www.3dwriting.com/tlrr . Stop by and take a look around.
