Thanks for the www.timeglider site! It is incredible. I am passing it on to content teachers with ELLs in their mainstream classes as a means of making topics more accessible to…

Apologies to whoever visited this week and found the site not working. Should be better now. Fun fact: it takes more than a dozen computer languages to render one page of this game. Sometimes the pieces-parts don't play well together!

Terri Browning replied to Lauriene Tschang's discussion 'How do you grade a project that involves the use of technology?'
I always (obviously!) grade on content, conventions...6 traits as desired. For any type of project, my rubric contains a Presentation category which is useful when students have a choice of product types. Is it neat, balanced and "aesthetically…

I'm in a rural area of Kansas; much of my PD is online, ask around, try anything! Of course life intruded, as did ball games and pictures - give me a break! - so we didn't get to this as planned. I hope next Monday we can start with this.…

Terri, I noticed you mentioned 3d programs. You can use www.search-cube.com for a 3D cube google search for a time period. This is a really cool website, it is google based. Doug

Good to know! The quick look I took looked promising, but the proof is always in the kids using it. I've been know to use an app or two that didn't go over.

Timeline online applications

What's the best free application you've found that students can use to create a timeline?  I'm so frustrated!  The ones I've tried either do so little as to make them useless or I find I'm just getting a peek but have to pay to really get anything useful.  So many amazing applications are out there - I know there must be something that I'm just missing.  I'd love to have one of those 3D programs, but that's not in the budget at the moment.  It would be nice to at least be able to insert…See More

I have a couple for my high school classes - plus one at home and I just bought one for a Christmas present. I'm a huge fan. They are so easy to use; I think your elementary students will love them too! I have used them in a few ways over the…

Terri Browning replied to Sue Palmer's discussion 'Does anyone have Facebook pages for their courses or schools?'
We're a small district so it's pretty easy for us to implement things. We're going to try a Facebook page this year; ironic since students aren't allowed to access it at school but it should be great for parents and community…

I was visiting with our district IT guy about this earlier. He wanted me to ask you - 1. Why do the police say that it can’t be treated as stolen? It is school property that is not being returned. 2. What is the $200 fine for? 3. What kind of…
