"I recently heard Jim Klein speak about how 1:1 netbooks (used with free Ubuntu software) increased his students' writing scores 20 percent. I wrote an extensive blog post about it, if you're interested:…"
"I really appreciate this site. Great reading. Can anyone help with a proposal I am putting forward to my bosses at GOTAFE to purchase a set of netbooks for a class of young people who have been disengaged with learning. I have 16 students 90% of the…"
I am looking for a class that is interesting in a skype long distance debate with my class this semester. I teach 8th grade U.S. History. Last year we debated against Terry Parent's class out of Hollywood, California. The topic was Democratic Republicans vs. Federalists. I would like to repeat this event yearly. Perhaps even more than once a year. Anyone interested...especially a class in a time zone that is closer to us, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am in Central Time Zone. The time zone is important to consider because working with the class in California (I am in Texas) was a "juggle." Although, it was worth all of the effort.
With your interest in Technology and Web 2.0, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
Hi Barbara. I was wondering if you have students or educator friends who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
I noticed that you don't have anything in your playlist, so according to my calculations (keep in mind I'm a social studies guy) it shouldn't be there.
My window says the following:
There are currently no songs in this playlist.
This player won't show up for other people until there is a song or podcast to play. Why not add one?
Perhaps try switching to another theme and then switch back. I started out with the Classroom 2.0 theme and then switched. Perhaps that has something.
As for connecting... wow you start early. We don't come back until the 4th of September. That's not a bid deal though. What's on your reading list for the year? Perhaps we could start there? I am also open to other suggestions. Take care.
I don't have any plans at the moment for summer conferences. My district is very restrictive in regards to paying for conferences. I would have had to put in for NEC in December and then financed a lot of it myself. I have one son in college and other who I am helping through grad school so it isn't a good time financially speaking!
