highly recommend clay christensen's disrupting class - how laptops can revolutionize - rather than just be a fun tool.
My school did a pilot of the Intel Classmate Convertible this spring which has lead us to adopt them as our primary machine for our middle school 1-1. (Details of the pilot can be found on my blog.)

I noticed that you don't have anything in your playlist, so according to my calculations (keep in mind I'm a social studies guy) it shouldn't be there.
My window says the following:
There are currently no songs in this playlist.
This player won't show up for other people until there is a song or podcast to play. Why not add one?
Perhaps try switching to another theme and then switch back. I started out with the Classroom 2.0 theme and then switched. Perhaps that has something.
As for connecting... wow you start early. We don't come back until the 4th of September. That's not a bid deal though. What's on your reading list for the year? Perhaps we could start there? I am also open to other suggestions. Take care.

- Hi Barbara,
I don't have any plans at the moment for summer conferences. My district is very restrictive in regards to paying for conferences. I would have had to put in for NEC in December and then financed a lot of it myself. I have one son in college and other who I am helping through grad school so it isn't a good time financially speaking!
