Just getting started...

I'm not a certified teacher, but I am a life-long learner, a student, and hope to always work in education.

Launching an Edtech Company part 4: standard of content

Posted on January 26, 2010 at 12:04pm 0 Comments

As we think of the final touches to our simple learning management and communication tool (coursefeeds.com) we're drawn to the idea in education that these days there exists a basic standard of content on the web. A "standard of content" or SOC, used to be localized to schools and classrooms. It was based on the set of books that a teacher utilized during the school year.

So for example, in my social studies course back in 8th… Continue

I think that's inefficiency in education (because perfect knowledge, for all of… Continue

Launching an Edtech company, Part 2

Building awareness around a brand (especially a new brand) is difficult. Over the past few weeks I've been getting out into the education community (the online community that is) and have connected with bloggers and individuals who I think would be great additions to our Beta testing group.

You see, when we launch http://coursefeeds.com we plan to do so in measured steps (so we can tweak the system to best fit the needs of our… Continue

Launching an Edtech company

I haven't had the chance to use this blog here, so here goes. I'm not a certified teacher, but I do really enjoy working in education. So for anyone interested, this is going to be an account of working in the education field from a private/entrepreneurial perspective.

I've worked for a private ed tech company (GlobalClassroom.us) for the past few years and have gotten (and am still getting) great experience working/supporting/helping teachers use Moodle and other… Continue

Hi Joseph-
Mark Wagner pointed me in your direction. I'm looking for an intro to moodle workshop agenda and wanted to know if you might have anything you've used in the past that works well.
Cheers-

Hi Joseph. I was wondering if you have any high school contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi again Joe! Hope you're enjoying your long weekend, and I wanted to give you a big THANK YOU for the blog you posted about Studica Skills! I appreciate any exposure you are willing to give us, and I will definitely stay in touch! Looking forward to discussing the newsletter you mentioned, and maybe seeing if we can't get some of the free competitions incorporated into a more concrete plan for the curriculum for the online courses. Much appreciated, my friend, and happy 2008 to you! Stay in touch! :)
