Smartboard daily oral language, editing

I'm looking for resources to teach DOL (daily oral language) or quick editing, revising lessons on a Smartboard for third grade. I'd rather not create new notebook files for everyday or scan in worksheets from books. Anyone know of any online resources? Thanks!See More

Dawn, Yes, teachers can join the collaboration at any time. I'll add and update some of our Connecticut content this November when we cover the unit again and the wiki will also serve as a resource for this year's students to learn from…

We haven't directly contacted any of the other schools yet, as we won't really get into the kite unit until April. I will look into the possibility of chatting with the class in Pakistan. There is also a class in Hawaii that would like to…

I am interested in joining your kite project. It would actually fit into our math unit that I am teaching right now. I teach third grade in New Jersey and I am interested to hear more details on this project.

Collaborating with kites - elementary and middle school

Thumbnail
I am a 3rd grade teacher in Connecticut. For the past 3 years my class has made kites in the spring as part of our math curriculum. I started using kites as a way to teach measurement and symmetry, but have since expanded it to applying division and fractions. The students love the chance to use math to make something functional. And, of course, It's great fun to get outside to fly them!Last year I wanted to add cultural exchange and reading and writing into the unit, so I set up a website…See More

Jonah,
Thanks for the podcast help! I saved the two I have done in iTunes, and I'll work on bringing them over to my blogger account from there. Right now my website allowed for the uploading of files, but I don't like the way it looks. Plus, no one can comment from my website...

I visited your website and it is fantastic! I love your enhanced podcasts! I watched the wigwam one and the fennec fox... Wow! We are on vacation right now, but when we come back I am going to share your website with my third graders. We're about to start animal reports, so they'll enjoy seeing yours. We'll be sure to leave comments for your students.

Thanks!

Hi Jonah,
I received a grant thru the Bridgeport Public Education Fund. I was able to get three laptops, 2 Flip Ultra Videos (60 minutes) and three digital cameras. Unfortunately, they only fund Bridgeport teachers. I just received two more digital cameras, (they also have video capability) thru www.DonorsChoose.org They may only fund low income schools, but they're worth looking into.

I love your picture; I assume you've seen the kites being flown on Tiananmen Square? Oh, how I wish that I would have purchased one while there!
