I'd be happy to help, but need a little bit more information on what you're trying to accomplish.

Hi, I meant to give a bit more information but then there was a problem with the site and I was knocked off line before I could give the rest of the message. :) I live in Beijing so we are having a few issues over here right now. :)

Anyway, here is what I am need.

I have a couple of my top Math students doing story boards with concepts that other students are struggling with. At the moment they have worked on long division and fractions. I am really pleased with the work they are doing but now I am stuck. I don't know what to use to get the storyboards to a video format or something that can be used to show step by step of the process. I would like there to be explanations recorded by the students if possible.

As you can tell I haven't totally worked it out in my mind. I got the idea from something I read on Langwitches blog but haven't been able to find the post.

Any suggestions you have would be great. Oh yes, my kids are fourth graders who are tech savvy.

Thanks

Heather
If I'm hearing you correctly, sounds like they could make each storyboard "page" on any doc (Word, ppt, etc.), then upload those to VoiceThread, which lets them do voice-overs. It's free and less complicated than making movies.
I like that idea with Voice Thread as they are very familiar with it and wouldn't need a lot of hands on from me. Thanks

I'd second what Garrison suggested, and also recommend PhotoStory if you're simply connecting together a number of static images with some narration dubbed over.

If you google Web 2.0 and wiki together, you'll find a couple of wikis which list a vast variety of tech solutions like these, and they're typically free, collaborative, and user friendly.

Thanks, that gives me some things to think about. I think I want to start simple. Really appreciate it.

Heather,

Do you have any movie making software on the computers that you have access to?  What platform of computers do you use?

Do have a video camera available and software?

One idea without video making software, you can create a Powerpoint and then record the Powerpoint and make it into a movie. In order for the kids to show their ideas, they can create them in Word or directly in Powerpoint.

Also check out http://www.mathtrain.tv/ .  There are teacher created math videos here and student created.

Other ideas of screencasting see a list here: http://mashable.com/2008/02/21/screencasting-video-tutorials/

Its a start.  Let me know how else to help.
