Hi Margie. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

The Conflicts in Texas Video on the left is a class project done by 4th graders. They used power point for their template for their frame, word art for the title, typed in a brief summary of their person or event, illustrated the event with colored pencils, scanned and then imported the jpg into movie maker. They recorded their audio for their frame (event) directly into movie maker. More on this activity on my blog: k5tech.edublogs.org

Just a follow up to my comments on your movie trailers. I am a middle school teacher, who is now a tech mentor. My job is to travel our district and support technology integration into all grades K-12. Our focus is Web 2.0 (the read/write web) and we have been using Digital Storytelling in the elementary grades with huge success. At the middle level we have students using wikis to create their own collaborative novel, using a theme from the teacher. The cool thing about this is the students are from two different schools...collaborating. Amazing! The best PD so far for me was the FETC conference in Orlando. It was an "awakening" moment for me. There is so much to do for elementary level and the kids catch on so fast.

Thanks....

The two videos on the left were done by 5th graders using Movie Maker. They are "Movie Trailers" for novels as part of an author study project.
