What's you wireless design? Supporting High Density & Hundreds of Devices

Hi All...I'm interested in what those of you that have implemented to address 500 + student wireless devices and classrooms where 35+ devices are pulling data from your wireless network? We currently have three sites, relatively new schools that we deployed a CISCO controllers and Access Points. In those schools we have APs connected to 1Gig, Power over ethernet (POE) ports. The design is, essentially, one wireless access point per classroom. Even with this set up we have seem some latency when…See More

We've been using Moodle for about four years now and this year we've added Mahara to the mix. Mahara is an opensource applications developed specifically for education but includes many of the social networking components found in many of the most popular web sites such as Facebook, MySpace, etc. etc. Because it's opensource it can be installed on your own server and used safely with in the confines of your own network...if you so choose...

Looking forward to NECC!

There seems to have been a flury of interesting posts on the blogsphere recently now that the schools year is wrapping up (more time). It will be interesting to see how some of those conversations continue through NECC and the rest of the summer.

...and in other happy news, my daughter just turned three and had one heck of a cool party with a few of her close…

Hi John. I was wondering if you have students or educator friends who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi John,

With your work in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
