Hey David,
Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you! Starting next week, my Year 11 class is looking at the 20th Century from 1945 - 2000, and my Year 12 class is starting the Russian Revolution. I've already got a ning for my Year 11 cla...
Hello Jess
I sent you a message recently through diigo - I'd become really slack on keeping up with online stuff and only just now getting back into it.
My year 12 modern class next term is studying powerful individuals and doing a research assign...
Hi members,
I am recruiting learners of Chinese for MyChina Village Chinese Virtual Immersion Camp in Second Life.

After teaching Mandarin Chinese for three years in country Victoria, I am now back in Melbourne and will be teaching History and International Politics at Coburg Senior High School, a new school in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This year I'm interested in using more mobile technologies, gaming and virtual environments in my classes.
This little one sits on my desk next to my computer watching me try to write reports.

I’m thinking of using Notaland.com in my Year 11 History class this semester. It lets you put together scrap-book like pages, where you can add videos from YouTube or pictures from Flickr and lots of other things. You can also leave comment on people’s pages.
My thoughts are that my students could create a page for [...]

Are you new to using an interactive whiteboard (IWB)? Have you used one for ages but want some other ideas? Are you using an IWB regularly but know you could use it better? Then you are invited to join the Whiteboard Challenge!
The aim of this challenge:

Jess, would you like me to start a ning on students discussing current events? Let's chat more closely via google or skype. My google mail is nellie.muller.deutsch@gmail.com and my skype is nelliedeutschmuller
Hi Jess. I am just getting the hang of Skype so I may have done it wrong.
My user name is cwhebbard, so I guess you just add that name.
I am thinking very seriously about starting a collaborative project for my 5/6 class as they are getting Netbooks. I thought you and Anne Mirtschin might be able to steer me in the right direction. Cheers.
Great stuff Jess- for that first form, if you could just put down your head's name and a basic admin email address (probly a office@...), that would be great. Then if you enclose your name and email address, you'll be issued your password. When you've done that you'll have Silver Membership of the site and be able to explore and speak to teachers around the world.
If you want your to register your students and take part in projects then you can upgrade for free to Gold membership.
Hi Jess, yes I´ve got a lot of experiences on using Web 2.0 apps in the classroom - feel free to check some of my sites.
Would like if you decide to join my group on CR 2.0: DigiSkills with 470 members and my group on Grou.ps: http://grou.ps/digiskills
in order to share links and more.
Have a great weekend
Hans from Bavaria
Thanks Jess. I work with Bretter Lockyer at Overnewton but am a relatively new arival from Qld. I have been resisting my IWB and being a bit of a whinger about NOT having computers in my classroom. Build a bridge, I say. I have been working with Helen Otway to become an ICT Peer Coach and really want to move back into state education. Thanks for responding to my post. Have a great Sunday!
I am relatively new here. I am from Ghana and I'm just here to learn, contribute as well as link up with like-minded people who will be willing to share their experiences as well as help in spreading the concept of distance learning and adult education to Africa, which lags behind as far as education is concerned. hope to find a friend in you.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you - yes we are interested in the lunch box project - we could offer french and maybe greek :)
let me know how its going !
Are you still using twitter in the classroom. I was initially interested (having just jumped on board myself) and started a discussion about it but others weren't so keen on my behalf. Has it been a positive experience in your classroom?
Check out our series of free live workshops around the United States on the use of Web 2.0 technologies in education. Coming up: Sacramento, New York, and Boston. More details and information here.
