Hello Mr. Feldmeier. I am a general music teacher in Memphis, TN, and new to Classroom 2.0. I found your page while browsing the members area and wanted to invite you to participate in an online classroom/cultural exchange - your students and my students communicating with each other, sharing their work and developing a global relationship (for lack of a better term). Please let me know if you would like to try this. It has proven to be a successful way for my students to develop their communication skills and strengthen their appreciation for other cultures - nationally and internationally. I have a Voicethread posted on my page if you want to have a look - this would be an easy way for our students to communicate. You can also check out my students' projects on our music web page at http://web.me.com/knrgreene/RMSMusicMediaNetwork/Welcome.html. Hope to hear from you!

Hi Hans
I will have a look at all of the links. My students are 8-9 years old. I have a class website and each student has their own blog. The site is http://ourvoice2009year4.wikispaces.com

Hi Hans
Nice to meet you. I am not using Mahara but have heard about it. When I was working in New Zealand, I was working with Knowledge Net , a learning management system. In Australia, the concept of e-portfolios is really at an infant stage, if just beginning at all. I am going to use blogs for my students to create their e-portfolios. I have to be careful with this re age of my students and safety. I am a little concerned about whether this will support the true purpose of an e-portfolio, but my main focus for my MAsters is developing my practice in developing students who know how to teach themselves and who are reflective, self-directed learers.
I want to improve my knowledge of audio and video for reflection, rather than just having written reflections posted on a blog. I also want to encourage peer, parent and teacher feedback.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated or any sites or links that you think would be helpful, please pass these my way. I would also be interested in collaborating or chatting to other people who are interested in this field. I will follow your link and will keep in touch.

Thanks Hans, for the warm welcome. It probably makes the difference whether a newcomer like me bothers to come back and leap the hurdle of the steep learning curve and actually get involved! So thankyou again. I am excited about the possibilities and the learning I will do!
Best wishes.
