I know this is probably not a new topic but hey, I'm still a newbie here :-) I'd like to know about your experiences when teaching Speaking to adult students online, if there's any. What are the best tools to effectively accomplish this? Your helpful advice will be more than welcome!!

I find Google apps for education to be particularly useful, you might also want to check out this Google site, set up by Dr. Helen Barrett, which shows how to use Google Apps to create an eportfolio
Another platform I like is ELGG an open source social networking platform
Wordpress mu is great for multiple blogs, but like ELGG you need to set it up on a server.

While Ning has many obvious advantages, there is also one big disadvantage, the lack of possibility to export your content if you ever wish to move to a different platform.

I really like using Microsoft's Office Live and Microsoft Windows Live. In addition, I have experimented with Google Doc and Google's Blogger tool.
