Just a thought.... Instead of going through the trouble of having your entire class setup their own twitter accounts, have them come in each day with their tweets in their notes. I have taken the concept behind twitter - a brief summary of 140…

Twitter Account

I have not had the time to have my students utilize twitter yet. We had several things to do for Prom the week of training and then we were out a week and Prom was last week. I do however plan to get them started with twitter this week. I know it will go very well because they will love the social networking aspect of it.

The Networked Learner

Networking is the future for educators. Students can gain more valuable information through networking and the information is usually remembered and valued more by the students than information poured out to them by a teacher or parent. I am planning on recruiting members of the business community in our area or surrounding areas to network with my students about various careers. Students could ask questions such as: What do you do daily, What is a good starting salary in this area, What can I… Continue

The Five Minds of the Future

The respectful and ethical minds bring to mind my basic character education. I feel that this is extremely important for students going into the workforce and world in general. I think students need to reflect on the question posed in the article: "what kind of a world would I like to live in". This goes back to the golden rule of "treat others as you would want to be treated". We teach character education, but do we really teach students how they should act and react in workplace or life… Continue

Teamwork Classroom Activity

I teach the Tech Team course here at Muscle Shoals High School. The course is basically a web design course that teaches students the basics of web design and development with the following programs: HTML coding, Frontpage, and Dreamweaver. We also look at Adobe Photoshop software to edit pictures. The course is a prerequisite to Web Page Staff so it is essential that they learn to work together as a team to complete tasks. For the assignment, I had students work together in pairs to create a… Continue

Hi Kimberly, how has your week been going. You teach courses that most students really need to be successful when they leave school and enter the workforce. Have you seen this article on Web 2.0's effects on business? Thoughts?
