Free Online Book Writing Site for Elementary Students or Software suggestions

Hi,
I am looking for a site where primary students, ages 6-9, can write and illustrate (not stamp pictures) an original story. If no such site exists do you have any suggestions for software programs to purchase? I am leaning towards Pixie.

Thanks,
Nedra

I don't know if you are still looking or this answers your question, but try www.blurb.com. We're using this at our school.
If you want something digital, you might check out the discussion on flipbooks. Students could write the text and scan in illustrations, save as a pdf and using http://issuu.com make a neat picture book. If you want hard copy books you might lintor publishing.

I just found this site a few weeks ago, it looks great and I intend to explore its use with my second grade children in the future.

My third and fourth graders have used CAST Digital Bookbuilder and Big Universe.

At Kerpoof students can write a book or make a movie of their story.
Hi Nedra -

Check out the free RealeWriter (“Really Writer”) software - students create a picture book and then the books can be posted to RealeLibraries (“Really Libraries”) website where classrooms/schools can share their creations with the world.
