Response to Katherine Bolman - where do you find people to talk to using Skype? Do you already know these people? I would like to use Skype with my kindergartners - but I am not sure where to start? It sounds like you have a lot of fun with it.

Response to Kyla Fisher: I am in a high school so our experiences may be a little different. I teach an Advanced Computer Applications course where my students are using iMovie to produce commercials advertising for local businesses. We also use Google Sites to create 5-page websites for the same business. We have played a little with GarageBand for podcasts, but not much yet. I find that I've been using a lot of open source web 2.0 products more than anything lately.

Hi All! I am a kindergarten teacher in Iowa and I am very excited about this group - I work with both PC and MACS - I prefer the MAC. Our school is mainly MAC based also. I am interested in using my computer to its full potential. I would like to know what you are using in your classrooms and how. Garageband, iMovies, Photobooth?? How are you using the internet? I have sooo many questions?

In response to Norman G's question on locking up apps, so they can't be moved or deleted; I use an app called iProtect. I jailbroke my 3G iPhone and it works great. I have 4 very curious children of my own, and this limits their access. Hope this helps!

Quick question for those of you using ipod touches. Is there an app or way to lock the apps in place so young fingers that linger don't bring up the x's and delete apps? Thanks, Norm

Hi everyone and do I want to communicate with this group!
Skype works very well! I talk with folks in Africa, Israel, and Australia and am contemplating using it as a way to teach a course I am developing in one of your classrooms. Take your computer to the Apple Store and they may well help you install Skype. It is free and you just connect and talk to your computer. My Skype name is Katherine Bolman and you can call me to try it out. I am on Hawaiian time so check the time difference!

We are looking into having some of our teachers explore collaborating/communicating with students in other parts of the U.S. and in other countries. We do not have student email accounts, but I'm looking at either ePals or Gaggle. Has anyone either done a direct comparison of the two services or seen one published somewhere? We'd like to make an informed decision, and I would love to see a one-to-one comparison. Thank you so much!
I would appreciate any other feedback on ePals and/or Gaggle OR any suggestions about ideas, strategies, or pitfalls!
