Information

Elementary School 2.0

Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.

No video appeared. It was blank above the embed link. When I clicked embed, it told me I had to post it to my web site. Thanks for trying to help though!

Did you click on the video itself or the "embed" link below it? When you put your mouse over the video a play symbol should appear and the control panel of the video should pop up at the bottom of the frame... I'm not aware of any alternative sites and you can't even download it to watch from your computer unfortunately :(

Thank you SO much Laura! I really loved the podcasting project and am thinking I will do that when we study tide pool animals in the fall. I would really like to watch that video but I tried to click on it and it said I have to post it to my web site? Is there another site I can go to and just watch it? Thanks again! Katy

Kathryn: I don't know whether this will be any help but I wrote about a podcasting project I did over three weeks at one of my practicum/school placements - Podcasting with year 2. I also have a short list of web 2.0 tools on my site - see the navigation panel in the left sidebar.
I just watched a integrating technology presentation online from the recent ISTE Conference: Best Resources for Elementary Integration and Transformation. Its a streaming video that goes for about one hour. Could also be useful for you too :)

Great virtual field trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo at MEET ME AT THE CORNER, VIrtual Field Trips for Kids (www.meetmeatthecorner.org). THe show comes with a Learning Corner of questions and activities that teachers can use for classroom discussion.

Hello,
I teach 2nd grade and would like to make a list of ways to integrate newer technology into my classroom this year. I am taking a social networking class online which is great but feel overwhelmed with all that is out there, especially since so much seems to be geared towards upper elementary students and older. I would love to hear from K-2 teachers as to what you do in your classroom- curriculum/tools/sites, anything! - and also from anyone who could give me the top 10 "things" to explore first. I need to filter/narrow down so I can get started. Thanks! Katy

Celebrate National Museum Month with a virtual field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Meet Me at the Corner (www.meetmeatthecorner.org) offers a free kid-friendly episode along with links to art websites for children ages 5-12.

Hi All! Hoping this will be of use to anyone needing to broadcast themselves in a secure way, here's an example http://www.iteachtoo.com/index.cfm?go=journal.viewpublic&Journa...
If you like it, you can create your own and broadcast it nearly anywhere you may find of use.

Come to Yale this summer July 19-21st to participate in an exciting 21st Century Conference for educators. Yale will debut an exciting new K-12 Mutt-i-grees Curriculum which incorporates Social Emotional Learning and can be easily integrated into any classroom. Cesar Milan (the Dog Whisperer) and his wife Ilusian Milan... (who generously support this new curriculum) will be present. To find more, or register for this wonderful opportunity visit the conference web site: http://www.yale.edu/21c/current_conference.html
