Through my work, I am always striving to bring my passions, children and technology, together for the betterment of both. I love what I do.

Been asking around

I am searching for a group of Spanish speaking students to team up with a class from Maine, USA in a Ning network (just got it approved without ads). The students are between 15 - 17 years old and hope to exchange culture, language and ideas through blogs and forums.

Kind of a social network class "pen-pal" project. Isn't there anyone out there interested?

2.0 moving across post-secondary

cross posted from http://newlearning.ning.com

Some see the advent of Web 2.0-style tools in the classroom heralding a shift in everything from education theory to how schools are built. The bottom line: traditional lecturing may be on its way out, said Claire Schooley, an analyst at Forrester Research who follows learning trends at universities and corporations.

Group vs. Main

Is there anyway to have a discussion show in the Main site when it is started in a group? If not, is it correct etiquette to post it in both locations?

Posted this on one of my other blogs - would love your input on what you tell your teachers and colleagues when they ask, "What tool to use?"

Sharon, you're scheduled to go on a "Speed Demo" before me at NECC Unplugged. Only problem - I can't make it! I can arrange a webmeeting or something though so I can do the demo from afar. I was wondering if you would mind going to a url on the master laptop or your laptop so that I could still do the demo.... Send me an email at mpstaton@gmail.com and we could talk about it.

Hi Sharon!
How nice to see you here! As soon as I entered, I saw your welcoming face so I decided to sign up on the spot.
See you around,

Sharon,

I just saw the comment you left for me a month ago -- I don't know why I wasn't notified you left it or why I didn't see it earlier. Unfortunately, even though I was successful in getting Ning unblocked by our District, the CAPTCHA is still blocked, so students can't sign-up. Sigh... I'm now working with a group of teachers from different parts of the world on projects that we're sharing other ways.
