"We use the config program. Seemed like the right thing to do at the time, never considered doing it from a backup though. That might save some time. Any down side to doing it all from a single backup?"

"It sees them as seperate devices, and yes that one app will sync to all of YOUR devices. Something interesting I also found is that if a student has their own and they want to authorize it on your computer, you can authorize it, transfer their…"

"We use the bretford cart as well. Best results happen when you hook it up to a mac. I've tried a couple of PCs and had horrible luck. Does the suitcase work any better on a PC?"

Scott Walker replied to Susan Wells's discussion iPod Touch Schoolwide Implementation
"True. And that was the way that I was referring to. It was just that without our wireless profile being installed on the device, it would no longer be able to connect at school after a restore. Thus, making the idea of tracking the MAC address not…"

"Something free that I have found works great is google docs. We create forms with the questions in them, and email them out to the students. It has a pretty good list of options for answer input as well. Teachers enjoy it because all the answers to…"

"Just a couple of drawbacks to the app. It works in 30 second chunks of time leaving the student to have to stop, wait for it to translate, and then continue. I'd love to see it be able to work without a network connection too. But for the price…"

"If the student that stole the device was using it at school, could you track the Mac Address through the network logs? Perhaps even track it to a specific access point and time stamp? We had one stolen and that was the best I could come up with.…"

About Me
Studied music in college to be a band director. First job I received put me in a classroom teaching Arts & Humanities. Realizing my calling was the classroom and not the "band room" I stuck with it and have enjoyed it ever since.

Slowly my hobby of technology is taking over and I have found myself wanting to see where it will take me. I plan to eventually pursue a Masters degree in Educational Technology. Until then I have started a blog to keep me occupied :)

Hi Scott. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Scott,
I missed your question awhile ago about our laptop program. We lease (4 years) teacher laptops with 4 year warranty. That way there is very little maintenance. We are half way through year 2 and it has been very successful. Many teachers are now jumping into technology and most say they could not function without their laptop. When the lease ends, we will start a new one. We pay once a year.
