Hello, everyone. I am an elementary school teacher who lucked up and got her dream job as a computer lab teacher. I see K-1 for 30 minutes every other week, and 2-5 from 40-55 minutes once a week. Please join my Computer Lab Activities wiki for resources to use in the computer lab.
I like your word walls. I think word walls are significant tools for all age groups. I read the discussion on decorating the tech class. I will have to check out your flickr pics to see all the parts of your class design put into practice.
Thanks for the invite. I'm already a member of elementary tech teachers ning but had actually forgotten that I had joined. I'll try to check it out more often. Thanks for sharing your pics.
Hi Amber...
A while back, you mentioned changing your toolbars to have larger icons. I thought that was a great idea but I can't figure out how... I have Word 2004. What do you have? Thanks!
Stacy
Thanks for the information. I added some pictures of our lab that I took today. What's on the walls and on part of the white board isn't what's normally there. We are currently working on art related projects so there are art posters up right now. Normally on the wall are just some computer related items - I think you have some of the same ones on one of your walls.
The globe picture is the current desktop in the lab. I create a new desktop image every month. This month is the earth for Earth Day.
I notice you have a word wall in your computer lab. Do you have specific activities you do with this or do you just add the words as you introduce activities or is it just set up like in the picture at the beginning of the year?
And I love the keyboard on the wall! I'm trying to decide what to do on the walls in our lab for next year and I like what you've done. I'm trying to figure out some way to easily be able to add and take down class work. Since I either have whiteboards (which are not easily viewable from all computer work stations) or walls like the one you have your "keyboard" on I haven't figured out anything that I like so far.
Hi Amber, We get to Mobile once in awhile. Perhaps we can get together sometime and share some ideas. Thanks for your help with the keyboarding and the invite to join K-8 Computer Lab Teachers.
Hmmm, haven't gotten it. Will have to dig around to see if it got buried somewhere. I'll let you know if I don't find it - may have to change my contact form?
