An Extended Blogging Vacation

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I am taking an extended Blog Vacation for at least the month of August and so, I won’t be posting anything at My Meandering Mind during that time. I hope you will continue to participate in the Day in a Sentence, which is being guest hosted at other [...]

Slice of Life, Chapter 18

(This is part of a weekly feature called Slice of Life Project) This is a musical Slice of Life, as I have been working on a new song, possibly for my band The Sofa Kings. It’s pretty rough now and the bridge in the song is going to have to go (it doesn’t work), but that’s [...]

Memoir Mondays: The SI Experience

This is part of a project at Two Writing Teachers I am so jealous. I wander into the computer lab at UMass and see all of these teachers connecting and chatting and laughing at inside jokes and it brings me back to my Invitational Summer Institute with the Western Massachusetts Writing Project. My role now is [...]

ReConfiguring My Comic Strip

I am in the midst of reconfiguring my comic strip. There are a couple of reasons for this: I don’t like having to rely on an online site for creating the comic; I don’t want to navigate copyrights if I can get my comic published, since the artwork was not mine but the property of the online [...]

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is part of a larger experiment with other teachers to create a Collaborative ABC Movie using Web 2.0 tools and features. For one of my letters -- Z --- I wrote a poem and used images from a site called MapMyWord, and then put them together as this movie. (more info about the project can be found at http://techstories.edublogs.org/)

Your Day in A Sentence -- Feb 08

Greetings
I want to invite you to join a collaborative project in which you boil a day of the week, or your entire week, into a single sentence and share it through a community of writers.
This week, we are using VoiceThread.

Inviting You to Contribute to Day in a Sentence

This was a feature started by another blogging teacher, who decided to stop blogging, and I have taken on this weekly feature called Day in a Sentence, in which teachers boil down their week or a day in their week into one concise statement.
We have about a dozen regular contributors and I want to invite YOU (that's right, you) into the mix.

Loose Ends from a Conference

I had the pleasure of being a keynote speaker (my first time!) at a conference around technology and writing at the Hudson Valley Writing Project on Saturday. It was a wonderful group of teachers and soon-to-be-teachers who were interested in this convergence of technology and writing in the classroom.

In the interest of sharing, here is my keynote address (if I cut out my Ummms and Uhhhhs, it would probably be about 10 minutes shorter than it is). Anyway, here is the podcast of my spee… Continue

K12 Online Conference -- a new adventure

My friend, Bonnie, and I are presenting at this year’s K12 Online Conference and we hope to show folks how we used the tools of Web 2.0 to create a learning environment for other educators as part of our Collaborative ABC Movie Project. We’re a bit mystified about how the conference will go but we are confident we can handle it, and already have some great ideas brewing for folks who “attend” our virtual workshop.

Kevin,

I play an electronic MIDI keyboard for fun, and I like to compose music. I'm still going through everyone's blogs and trying to keep the details straight! Music technology is one of my hobbies.

Hi Kevin,
The Monster Exchange Project is great! If you ever want to try some monster exchanging with us in Ann Arbor, let me know--or some other weird and creative collaborative exchange!

Hi Kevin,
I requested you as a friend. Your profile of teacher, writer, musician & tech guy puts me in the same ballpark as you. I'll be interested in sharing info with you.

Hi Kevin

Nice to get a message! I'm in my classroom. Thank you for presenting at our Job- a -Like day. I like this site alot. I don't have a My Space Page because I know how much time I would waste on it! I do like feeling connected to other people in the field. Hope you are having a nice day off. See you on Tues.
