Try Josten's site and look at the winning pages and yearbook design. http://www.jostens.com/yearbooks/ybk_advisers_cp_inspire.html

use InDesign to create the yearbook ...

in the course, concentrate on teaching students to take great photos, write brilliant captions and stick to design and formatting parameters ... in the end, the book will be very good.

We did not use a yearbook service. The students put together the book themselves, got all the files ready for the printer, and published independently. The results were a lower priced book that ended up great. By doing it independently, you are freer with design. But it will reduce your lifespan by a couple of years.

Have fun. Be sure to be taking pictures from day 1.
