About Me
Hello. My name is John Costilla. I am an educator with more than 20 years in working with public education. I am currently an advisor to a free social community for teachers - WeAreTeachers and work for an education partner. Thanks for allowing me to grow and learn via EdubloggerCon, NECC Unplugged and here on CL20.

Classroom teacher, instructional specialist/trainer, consultant and now member of WeAreTeachers community development efforts. Eager to meet and learn something new everyday.
Hi and welcome to my Classroom 2.0 page. A little about what I'm doing with Web 2.0 tools... I've joined an organization that is not only using the Web 2.0 tools to allow teachers to share, collaborate and learn, but to also earn...basically giving teachers the ability to create and publish their knowledge and share in their own online marketplace. It's really taking the best of the Classroom and move all who impart knowledge into the business of teaching... I invite any friends to join me @ weareteachers.ning.com.

NING moves to Cha Ching $$$

Posted on April 15, 2010 at 1:31pm 1 Comment

I read this and immediately thought... What does this mean for all those who have created NING communities in education? I for one love Ning and all it's capabilities, but I've created so many niche Ning communities that I'm not willing to pay to sustain all of them. While I understand the business model and can appreciate the efforts necessary in this down economy, it really does create a wake up call to think about. We saw this earlier last year… Continue

I pulled this out of the notes taken by @wfryer regarding T3 (Target Tech in Texas) which is the artist formally know as E2T2 in Texas. Wes provides a great deal of insight and summary information around the grant opportunity. Read more.…

Good morning John,
Thank you for inviting me to your world here in Classroom 2.0. I am sorry it has taken me so long to accept your gracious invitation but I have been out of the country and away from computer access for months. I am back and excited to start sharing ideas again.

I appreciate the invite John - certainly the concept of the we are teachers initiative is of interest. While adding a commercial component to social networking is not something I would endorse (being an open learning advocate) I can see how it might actually drive the development of a social software site. Not unlike the freelance networking tools that are available to link abilities with needs to negotatite a price.
