Just my two cents, but I can't stand Smartboards. In my experience lessons take tons of time to prepare, and are nothing more than dog and pony shows when you finish. I personally get a lot more mileage from a good book.

I have not used Kidspiration on my SMARTboard yet. I will try it on Monday. Thank you for sharing this information.

What grant are you writing for? Wireless just makes sense. Would not the objectives be very similar as technology is just a toll used to address existing objectives in different ways. Thanks, Berta

20 iPods per cart. Eventually, yes we are looking to add computers. The wireless laptop carts we have do access internal resources so yes we will be needing that capability.

We have wired access just not wireless. We currently don't allow teachers or students to blog or social network in any manner (although the tides are changing). I envision students being able to collaborate via the internet but I need you guys…

Technical as well as pedagogical. The grant app has areas for objectives/outcomes of the funding as well as equipment/cost etc. Any advice is appreciated.

How about simply being up to date technology wise? I think about 65% of the US has internet access. There is no reason that schools--the center of education not have the same access. :)

Objectives for Wireless Grant - I NEED YOUR HELP!!

Hello Classroom 2.0 colleagues and friends. I am in need of your expertise and assistance. I have been asked to write a grant for funding of a school-wide wireless system. Initially, we plan to use the wireless with our iPod Touch carts only. I wrote a grant year before last for iPods but we were not allowed to connect to the internet with them. This year we are rolling out more iPods and wireless technology (hopefully). I need objectives and 21st century skills for the use of wireless internet…See More

Hi Susan,

With your work in Technology for Rockbridge County, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording you might find of interest.

Hey Susan,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Susan. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
