hi Fred, quia will let you upload audio files to your files area. Rip your cd using windows media files and save them as mp3 or wav files. There is a limit on the file store but it is quite large. Give each recording a clear name so that you can…

We used a template from the template Gallery at first. Then 2 years ago came up with our own template. We set up a miniblog, file cabinet and webpages for each subject. The presentations, spreadsheets, etc we would embed from Google Docs into the…

Hi Fred, Perhaps you want the students to create a template that matches the needs of the course.  If they work backwards from the year-end goal, they can create it.  Of course, the "template" may ultimately be a Google site with…

If you're using Google Apps for education you can create your own templates and share them within the organization. That's what our district did. It features key elements we'd like students to contribute and the district logo.

Next year 2011-12 I am planning to have my students keep an online digital portfolio using google sites.  As I set up the sight, I am unsure about which template to have them use.  On their sight  they will have to blog, upload writing samples from google docs, presentations from google and MP3 files.  Can someone suggest which template will work best.

That would be great.  The group I have this year hates to speak Spanish.    All they want to do it book work.  It would be nice if we could connect.  What types of things are you reading?  We could read the same thing/…

Hi Fred,
Thank you for your interest in listening to some of my student podcasts. If your students leave comments and questions, I'll get my students to write back!
Take care, Renae

Your Twitter activity sounds great. I'm in the process right now of developing a new Twitter unit on Lois Lowry's The Giver. Have you read it? It's a great book!!

Glad I could help. I like listening activities on Moodel because the kids who need to listen to it multiple times can without slowing down the others. I still recite some tests in the classroom when they are allowed to hear the listening selection twice only twice, i.e. for placement test preparation, but I try to use Moodle as often as possible since they hear the items better with earphones on. Fewer distractions.

Hi Fred,
I created a video for our Spanish teacher on how to upload audio files to Moodle. The video is located at http://drop.io/jjbaird2. There are 2 videos on this site. The 2nd one is the one you want, not the one with the monks. If you have any questions, let me know. Julie

Oppps, make that lived. I just realized that while you listed Spartanburg as your home town you are teaching in Maine. Hehehe, South Carolina has a way of sticking with you. Greenville still feels like a home town to me too. :0)

I noticed your request to someone about adding sound files to Moodle quizzes. When I stopped by your profile, I noticed you live in Spartanburg. I used to live in Greenville, but we moved to Arkansas about 11 years ago. Seems like yesterday though. Let me know if you need help with sound files in Moodle.

I'm embarrassed to say I'm not a member of ACTFL. Did you find the article helpful? I don't want to use FB with students b/c I want that to be my own personal space for friends & family. The biggest problem I have right now is that my students need about 5 different passwords to use some of the web 2.0 tools in my class. I think a Ning would simplify things a bit. I do like how they can collaborate with a wiki though... How about you? What are you using/exploring in the classroom re:social networking tools?

Hi Fred,
I'm learning this year to use Ning & Twitter. I think next year, I may use a Ning, but for now, we are using wikis & my blog.
