The 21st Century Teacher Blog: 21CT
Well, It’s finally done. The 21st Century Teacher Blog has served it’s purpose. But now, changing demands and shrinking free services and features have required me to relocate the blog to a commercial host, give it a much needed face-lift to match my own learning and thinking styles, and to reemerge from the ashes like [...]
This morning while excitedly participating in the live CNN-Facebook coverage of Obama’s Inauguration Day activities, I happened upon my Facebook friend Brandy Agerbeck, who is a talented graphic facilitator. I asked her if she was going to draw the speech to commemorate it. She said that she hadn’t thought of it at all! She grabbed [...]
I made this Wordle graphic of President Obama’s Inaugural Address on January 20, 2009 .. minutes after his speech was completed. Click image to visit Flickr for larger version. Speech was crafted by 27-year-old Jon Favreau in a Starbucks. And, while I was participating in the live CNN-Facebook coverage, I prompted graphic facilitator Brandy [...]

I was looking at all some really complex charts on personal learning networks (PLNs); and was thinking how intimidating they must be for those just starting to grow a network. Sometimes simple can be more powerful. After all … All PLNs start with a single connection.

First of all, if you missed my Happy New Year 2009 video, well you can peek at it now.
I was tagged by Nergiz Kern (aka Daffodil) my Second Life neighbor on Virtlantis Island, home of SLEnglish with Kip Yellowjacket. The task: to reveal 7 things about me that others in my PLN may not know. Most of [...]

Traditionally when we think of poverty, we have images of underdeveloped countries or regions where there is no or little hope to help or participate. We see stark images of human suffering that seem so distant and detached . But the truth is that there is always a way to join in. And poverty existing [...]

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?
Thanks,
Jack
My family is from Puglia. Do you go back there much? I try to make it every other year or so because most of my family is there.

Thanks for the comment about Twitter. I just took a look at your ning and bookmarked it for future reference. I'd love to have some of your teachers join my ning: http://globaleducation.ning.com . There are several teachers in this group looking for partners in global collaborations.
Thanks!
