Only a librarian? Hey..librarians are leaders in information management as far as I'm concerned. I end up "doing everything" as you put it because I work at a regional campus where one often wears many hats. We are very short staffed at the regionals and so often times, we find ourselves taking on work that many other librarians would not be doing in a larger library.
My background is in systems which is why I get along with all the IT people so well. Hence, the technology base has always been in my background.
What type of library work do you do?
