Hi Karen, I set up the exchange with Arles through Global Gateway. I've had several requests since, so the site is still very active. I like the voki! I'm going to check this out to use as part of our correspondance as well. Plus I think…

Exchange update

I have found a class via Global Gateway. My French 4/AP class now communicates weekly with a class in Arles, France. We have a new topic each week ranging from general introductions to family/holiday traditions. My students used Slide Rocket to create a presentation about our town. You are welcome to check out our wiki at http://frenchcommunication.wikispaces.com/

The students now have an elevated sense of real language and a desire to be accurate in their communication. The teacher from France and I are both excited for this opportunity and fresh approach to learning.

Hey Cammie,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi, Cammie! I've used Voki in school and at home. It can be a little twitchy at times, and so I've moved all the kids to G-Cast. They each have their own podcast channel, and then I just set up their RSS feeds in a tab on my Netvibes page - now they just have to call in from land or cell, and it automatically appears on my page in minutes. Mucho coolness. Here's the URL of one of my second year's if you want to check it out - (this assignment was writing a poem about a favorite childhood place) Some is a bit, mmmm, hard to understand - but still wonderful overall. http://www.gcast.com/user/2AlexC/podcast/main

Hi Cammie,

With your interest in online communication for you French classes, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Hi Cammie!

Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Virginia!

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

I'm looking for a French-speaking class who is learning English to exchange comments with my high school students on our wiki page. I'd like my students to correspond in French and the other students could respond in English.
