We have probably all been subjected to online course content that is of the "copy-text-to-web-page" variety. It's deadly dull…

Hi Alix,

With your work in Instructional Technology for you District, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.

Hi Alix. I was wondering if any of your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some other educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

We used imovie version 6. The two students who created Undo focused mainly on "reverse" and "voice over". Thanks for comment, Alix. You're in marin? I'm in napa.

It would be great to have someone to compare notes with! I have been really working at creating podcasts of 1st person narratives for our 7th graders. I just can't seem to get it done. If there were less hoops to jump through...Oh well, I'll keep plugging away at it. Talk to you soon!

OK, will do it right now. You and I didn't get a chance to talk at SCOE, but we've corresponded before. :)

Kevin (Honeycutt) thought the canine pictured with me was a border collie, too. Shem was not a border collie, but the noblest ninety-pound mutt I've ever known personally. I used to travel from the ridges of Maryland to the Virginia Blue Ridge country (one and the same geologically) to watch much smaller border collies herd sheep at show trials. Although we lived on a small farm, Shem wasn't a trained working dog (unfortunately). He and his sister Lucy loved to chase one another around the house and were constant companions of mine. I learned other things to appreciate about Shem and Lucy, especially their emotional intelligence and awareness of mine.

Have you introduced your non-human companions to your students? Do they know how interesting a person you are? They should.

Alix, I'm listening to The Raven as I write. This is very exciting - and motivating - to be joining you on another technology adventure.
