HELP! I NEED ANCIENT CIVILIZATION PROJECT IDEAS

This is the first time I have taught World History in many many years. I am looking for a great project for Ancient Civ. I want the kids to be able to pick the civilization they are most interested in and then produce something. Any ideas???

About Me
I have been a teacher since the early 80's. I guess I have grown as the technology grew. I teach social studies. I think this subject is the perfect venue for applying technology in a creative way.

I have two children - a son who is 20 and an 13 year old daughter. I am always posting her singing videos because I am so proud of her. My son has decided to become a History teacher - he is majoring in Secondary Ed.

Accelerated Reading, Boys and Middle School

After months of work, I have finally finished my Action Research project. It hasn't been graded yet but, here is a copy if you are interested.

I basically changed the reading time for my class full of boys to see what effect it would have on their reading. I also kept a behavior log and did a survey to find out more about their attitudes towards reading. I was surprised by a few of the results.

If you need help getting boys to read, maybe this will help you.

Dear Jeanie

I have down loaded your AR study. I am a fan of sustained silent reading. Many thanks, I will quote you to my staff.

Hi ,

With your interest in Technology Application for Social Studies, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording you might find of interest.

Hi Jeanie. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
