Coming from a students point of view...I think Ipads would create more interest in the curriculum and keeps a childs attention better. Chilren already love video games and the latest technology, so using this to an educaters advantage could only be…

With advances in technology and their integration into learning, this is the direction we are headed. Time will come when hardcover textbooks will become obsolete. The questions of the best device, the best system, and the best way to implement them…

Antwon; Nice post. I think that eventually, iPads will be a "Game-Changer" as you said. While I was in Denver at ISTE 2010 I attended several sessions, and had many informal discussions about the iPad. Also, I was inspired to write about…

iPads in the classroom...can you see it?

Hello Community,Well, I bought an iPad. I could not resist the temptation. After I walked out of the Apple store with my iPad, I knew I wouldn't have buyers remorse. I seldom buy the first generation of anything! However, I have a feeling that this device (the iPad) will be a gamechanger in education, and I needed to understand why. Let me explain.Every time I walk in the Apple store I see kids (young and old) crowding around a table of adults to experience this device. Now, I should not be…See More

Do you have any grade 3-5 Title 1 classrooms? There are a few spots remaining in a grant program for schools to use In2Books, a supplemental reading project that pairs students with adult pen pals.
Check out the articles in The Reading Teacher and Phi Delta Kappan about it. Or read more at: in2books.epals.com.

Thanks for the compliment regarding my video! I just shared it with my district last week, so we're not quite to the point of using the Wiimote whiteboard district-wide. I'd like to see that eventually. For now, I've had at least a few educators (throughout the district) who are going to use it. I plan on working specifically with a couple of them to pilot the whiteboard.

Feel free to contact me at egolfer6@yahoo.com. We can talk more about implementing the Wiimote whiteboards in classrooms.

Hi Antwon. Thanks for making the connection. I'm interested in reading your book and have subscribed to your podcast.
I'm in the unusual position of being the district tech leader as an IT professional (my background) but also having some background in learning and now completing my M.Ed. I truly feel I live on both sides, and most times on top, of the proverbial IT/Teacher fence.
You can check out my post Teachers talking to IT, and IT talking to teachers where I'd love additional input to make it a useful tool.
Also, can you announce when your website will be complete - there's a few links that I'm sure will include more useful material.

Social Network Sites For Middle School Students Should be Banned...Really!

Posted on April 30, 2010 at 4:20pm 1 Comment

Greetings Community,

I am begining to understand this Web 2.0 world (Finally!). I read various blogs discussing the marits of this new

world in education. Love the buzz in the Classroom 2.0 site. I am

shifting to see educational benifits beyond the Web 2.0 hype

(Sorry...some of it is hype). Part of my challenge is I work in an

elementary setting. K-6 students online is a very touchy subject in my

district. We are still embracing Web 1.0.

I stumbled… Continue
