What a great project! I hope your specific details on what worked and what didn't will help other teachers avoid the pitfalls. Thanks for sharing!

Lynn, This was done years ago in a rural district I taught in. When the sped and the regular teacher are friends or on equal footing, it works very well. But I've heard complaints that sometimes the sped teacher is used as a gopher and never allo...

Morah, I feel sorry for anyone who has to let people go on any job. I'm sure it is not just teachers and principals who have this problem. It is tough to give up employees when business or school enrollment goes down. And, we are in a recession, ...

Ian, It may depend on how effectiveness is measured. Fun has its place and "makes the medicine go down". But depth of knowledge is an important consideration as well. The kids may not clap their hands with glee, but the question of effectiveness ...

Noemi, You will visit Nancy in KC, but I am in Virginia. But, please do keep in touch with both of us and let us know how you are doing in the job search. Oh, I was in Kansas City once, as a stopover on my way to Albequerque to present at a VEA ...

What a nice reply, Nancy. I hope Noemi can take you up on that offer. It is no fun losing a job, but a chance to go to a new community makes it all better!

I guess it depends on how the principal values loyalty. I would suspect that the 30+ years teacher is an extremely effective teaching using the skills of the 20th century well. 21st century skills are as yet untested. Not to mention that most priv...

Hello Anne,

I decided to bring our discussion here, I hope its ok with you.

Thanks for installing the WordAhead widget at your website. It appears to be working fine and apparently a visitor will not notice any problems or issues and it will not slow down ordinary users. The errors that you are encountering are probably because of the dial-up connection.

You can either ignore them as everything should be working ok, or if you like we can try sorting out this problem. For that id like you to send me a screen shot of the error/s. For that all you have to do is hit the 'Print Screen' or 'PrtScn' button on your keyboard and then save the error image as .jpg via Microsoft Paint Brush that comes with every windows OS and then send me that jpg. I can send you my email address where you can email me the screen shots and we will go from there.

So just let me know how you would like to proceed.

Also, if you like i can send you the WordAhead logo or icon to place with WordAhead links at your website in accordance with the rest of the page.

Hello Anne,

I enjoyed the operating systems entries you and others made. Unfortunately you are a true educator and they are not. You care about pedagogy and they don't.

Lexile.com is a great resource for children's story writers to determine the reading level of their text. I use their leveling system with my kids and it seems to give the best results of the various systems out there. You can register for their leveling tool which will let you enter the text and have it analyzed.

If your sister decides that she doesn't have the time to work on those pictures for you, I recommend asking at WetCanvas.com. It is the busiest artist's website on the net attracting artists of all ability levels from beginning hobbyists to practicing professionals. If your project is non-profit, you will likely find a volunteer.

There are several channels there because of the high traffic levels of the site. There are channels for each medium (watercolor, pencil, digital) and several subject (portraiture, landscapes, etc.). Browse around a bit in there to get e feel for the best places to ask. I recommend the Digital Art channel since your work is online-oriented and the Illustration Channel.

While you are there, look up some of my threads ...

Hi Anne,

With your interest in Web 2.0 Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Hi! Anne
Happy New Year
Thanks for your comments. Prior to blog I was using e mail too. Actually, the concept of blogging emerged in full swing 2-3 years back. It came to my knowledge in Year 2006. Since then I am using it as a teaching tool. It has expanded the boundaries of my classroom. Also, through social networking sites I am able to interact with teachers all across the globe. My blog's URL is http://mykhmsmathclass.blogspot.com .This has been created to share and learn mathematics through hands-o activities . Your comments are welcome and valuable. I would love to learn from your experience in the field of education. What is your Twitter /Mybloglog/ or any other page reference? You are welcome to Join the group of Passionate teachers http://passionateteachers.ning.com
Spread the light of knowledge.
Regards
Rashmi
