I saw SecondLife at NECC in 2007, but was reluctant to use it in a classroom setting because of some of the 'things' people do on SecondLife. Just last month I discovered the Opensim Diva version. Got in running on my laptop. It allowed me to set up my own isolated virtual world. Used it with my two AP Bio classes today and had them build their own ecosystems. I was very impressed with what they were able to do in a very short time frame.

Hi Jennifer, perhaps something like a virtual theatre setting where pupils can 'perform' their work, poetry for example, or where one party could be an interviewer and another a famous writer, who replies to questions about some of their work. Pupils could collaborate on the research, narratives, builds and machinima of this. Other disciplines could build scenes to meet the author's time period, location, a scene from their novel, etc.

Hi, I teach 7th grade English at an aerospace technology magnet school. I recently downloaded EduSim and my students and I have played around with it, but I'm looking for some ideas for my English classes. I'm working on a team designing a interdiscplinary project for next school year, and we'd like to use EduSim (or another tool for creating virtual environments) for that as well.

Hi All, I'm fairly new here. I'm working on a 3D science tool for k+. We're at the design stage now, hoping to complete the first prototype this summer. One of our big questions right now, which world to use? Short-listed to Reaction Grid and OpenSim. Any ideas/advice would be much appreciated :)

Anyone using OpenSim in the classroom. I'd really like to learn more about how to get started with it. I teach a CAD class to 11th and 12th graders. We've been doing GoogleSketchUp and will be learning Blender next semester.

I'm really interested in having students create a virtual world which they can navigate with their avatars.
