Elementary School 2.0

Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.

I'm new here, but I'm hoping to share ideas, even though I teach middle school technology ... everything from keyboarding to television broadcasting. Love what some of you are doing with websites between schools.

I teach in an elementary school computer lab. My class is a special subject like music, art, etc. This means that I see over 600 students during a week cycle. My "dream" is to make my curriculum actually an extension of the regular classroom curriculum. This has been a frustrating goal to attain. In addition, most administrators are either afraid or too uninformed about Web 2.0. So, as soon as there is any small problem associated with student-to-student communications, they shut it down. This happened to me in my use of Thinkquest and EDU2.0 with my students. So, I'm hoping to rejuvenate my enthusiasm with ideas from this community. Rock On!! Charlie

Hello,
I'm currently an Elementary Education major at the College of William and Mary and I'm trying to write a unit for my Kindergarten class on the needs of plants, and I want to include some cool science activities/experiments that can be completed in one class period (and within a Kindergartener's attention span, growing plants can be tedious when you're 5).
Thanks!

Hello Everyone! I am a Masters of Arts in Teaching student at Seattle Pacific University and I've recently done some research, along with a few of my peers, all about the use of Interactive Whiteboards in the classroom. If anyone is interested, check it out!

I have a free website for children ages 7-12 called MEET ME AT THE CORNER, Virtual Field Trips for Kids.(www.meetmeatthecorner.org)
This is is a series of free educational video pod casts is directed at kids ages 7-12. Each three-minute episode includes links to fun websites, a list of recommended books and a Learning Corner of questions and extended activities about the topic.

This week, our child host visits with San Diego illustrator Lori Mitchell author of DIfferent Like Me and Holly Blooms's Garden from FlashLight Press. Lori talks about her life as an illustrator and her life as an artist. Links to fun websites filled with great art projects for kids.
