Elementary School 2.0

Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.

Fourth grade teacher here; I just joined this group. I am always trying to absorb more ideas and knowledge to better support my students in their academic, social, and intellectual growth!
Plus, I love history and world geography; so GoogleEarth and SMARTboard technologies are two of my best friends!

Hi to everyone, My name is Bill and I and a few colleagues are developing a supplemental interdisciplinary curriculum for PreK to 5 grade students. I am hoping to find teachers to give me feedback on what makes sense and what we should be concerned about in introducing this program through a professional development effort. This exciting program for grades PreK-5 introduces teachers and students to engineering and thinking skills (tools for engineering) in an interdisciplinary project based learning environment. The program uses the engineering design process, as defined in the Massachusetts Science Framework, as a connector between students’ literature and their mathematics and science curricula. It infuses the development of thinking strategies with creative and critical thinking, provocative questions and meta-cognitive reflection, skills that are part of the engineering process. This approach is based on the definition, “Engineering is about designing useful products & processes for society using all disciplines, but mainly science & mathematics”.
Can you help me with some advice and input?

Hi, my name is Grace and I'm an Instructional Technology Coordinator at an elementary school in Arlington, Va. I was at NECC in D.C. the past three days and was introduced to even more Web 2.0 technologies that I look forward to exploring these really cool tools!

Hi! My name is Beth and I'm a Kindergarten teacher. I'm exploring new sites and thought I'd try this one. I'm also interested in any information on elementary summarizing and note taking. I'm doing some research on it and need some suggestions! Thanks

Hi my name is Robin and I'm a readiness first grade teacher. I just found out I will be teaching kindergarten readiness next year. Does anyone have any ideas on how to incorporate technology with kindergarteners. I already do it with my readiness/first using computers and a smart board.
