Assumptions of Appreciative Inquiry - Look on the Bright Side

(Cross posted from my school blog.)

The Thin Book Of Appreciative Inquiry by Sue Annis Hammond is just that, a very thin book (59 pages) that explains and describes the process of appreciative inquiry. Hammond describes Appreciative Inquiry this way,
The major assumption of Appreciative Inquiry is that in every organization something works a

What Do You Stand For?

(Cross Posted from my blog)

According to Robert Evans, the author of The Human Side of School Change, this is an essential question that all leaders must ask themselves. He also suggests that a motto is much more effective than a lengthy mission statement or a long list of goals or values. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, trying to frame what I "sta… Continue

Back on Ning

When I first joined this ning network there were only a few hundred of us. It was so exciting to get feedback on my blog entries, and contribute to and start discussions. I remember those early heady days here. I would check my e-mail constantly to see if anyone had responded to anything I had written. I got to "know" some people. I learned so much from everyone. I experienced a little "fame;" more people started reading my blog and Steve Hargadon even interviewed me about one of my projects.… Continue

Changing your Mindset - Part 2

Blogging with a Growth Mindset

Hi Elizabeth,

I'm a high school teacher working to create a semester-long course for freshmen in 21st century skills. We're using the ISTE standards as a start and are now working on what students will actually do. I have many ideas, but figured there must be something like this already going on somewhere. Do you have any tips about building a course like this? Thank you.

I thought you might find this Web 2.0 periodic table interesting. Full integration with Wikipedia and lots of data visualization on the Properties tab. Ptable.com

Hi Liz, can you tell me how to add tabs at the top of the page that are hyperlinked like resources wiki (external link) and faq (internal link)? I have a ning site where I want to do the same.
Thanks, Dennis

Hi Liz,

I was just hired to be the Technology Integration Coordinator for grades 9-12 at a girls' school. I've been a teacher for years, but this will be my first job of this type. Right now I'm looking to connect with others in this kind of position to get ideas about the routines and structures you have place to support all your teachers. What's a typical day like? A typical week? How does your job "work"? I appreciate any advice you can offer me. Take care.

Hi Liz, No sooner had I sent the message to you than I found out how to do it exactly the way you just mentioned. Many thanks though in getting back to me.

Hi Elizabeth, I'm new at this classroom 2.0 business and wonder how I can send a message to the people who have accepted me as a friend? Do I need to send emails separately or is there a link to email all my friends or something like that?
