About Me
I teach computer education classes at our local high school. These classes include web design, multimedia, and computer science. I am new to incorporating web 2.o components to my classroom. We have always had a class website, but until Nov -08 everything else was pretty much blocked by smartfilter. We now have a website, blog and wiki:)

Classroom 2.0

Posted on December 15, 2008 at 10:42am 0 Comments

Im excited about joining my first official social network, classroom 2.0. There is so much information here it will take awhile to figure it all out:) There is so much you can find just reading posts!!

I haven't decided if Im going to blog regularly here since I have a classroom blog, tidertechie.edublogs.org. I am trying to limit the incorporation of 2.0 elements to a manageable load:)

Hey Lisa,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Lisa! Welcome to Classroom 2.0! Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your colleagues or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get Louisiana students involved. Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Lisa, Welcome to classroom20. I am glad that edublogs is now unblocked. Blogging is a great way of connecting to others around the globe especially when timezones and languages can form a barrier. What age groups do you teach?

Hi Lisa,

With your interest in web 2.0 tools in your computer classses I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's web based power point presentation platform. Both have feature rich free basic service and might be fun and useful to you and your students.
