Programs or sites needed to visually represent a chapter in a novel

My students are currently reading a short German novel and I'd like them to pick a chapter and visually represent the action in that chapter. Unfortunately my students are stuck in the PowerPoint frame of mind. I'll admit that I'm just beginning to dabble with other programs and websites so I don't have many I can recommend to them. Can you tell me about any programs or sites that my students can use to review the action in a chapter and share it with their classmates? The ones I know of are:
Alice from www.alice.org
Pixton from www.pixton.com
http://www.toondoo.com

They can also create a movie or take still shots and turn them into a movie. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you like writing? You can create your own story here. Click on 'next'. Then choose a fairy story, a horror story, or a science fiction story. Wait for the storymaker to load, then answer the questions - choose the characters, words and places or write your own! Then the story maker will 'make' your story - you can print it too!

Wow, Kelly! I'm blown away by what's available for my students to visually represent a chapter. I'm going to be spending most of the weekend looking and playing with these sites. Thanks so much for typing up the list. I truly appreciate it.
