- I am a counselor in an alternative high school and I text with students a lot. Our district does not allow phones, but everyone has them. I've not gotten parent support as my students are often on their own anyway. It just sort of happened, but is very valuable. I want to use them more and just collected all of the numbers to use for reminders for our service learning activities. I do evening checks with students who are struggling with counseling issues. It is quick, private, and helpful.
