Steve Guynup replied to Lindsay Schulman's discussion 1st year advice
"The best advice I can give is the same advice got as a student teacher...(so actually I didn't have to wish I knew) All students want a positive relationship with their teacher. This ranges from being a pet, being a friend, being slightly…"

Steve Guynup replied to Jeremy Aldrich's discussion A challenge
"There is often an urge to project one's personal ideals into a virtual world. The ability to build vast learning spaces is tempting, as is the ability to imagine any educational scene you wish, or to radically change education. As a cautionary…"

nlowell replied to Steve Guynup's discussion New Here, Old Timer & the Design of Virtual Space

About Me
I'm old timer in web3d, and prone to telling kids to get out of my digital yard. My first work dates back to 1995, and since then I've done dozens of conference presentations and such. But often my work is greeted by "are you on drugs?" - SIGGRAPH moderator, "He's here to tell us how to make our work pretty" - host, ACM Web3D Conference, or "You can lick a monkey's balls but you can't call your work VR" - SIGGRAPH Art Gallery Chair.

I never got into SL, which may be an issue on this list.
