I have no GT credentials but have a BFA in Crafts. I recommend teaching students how to weave tapestries on hand held looms. Perhaps stretching a silk scarf on a wooden frame and using a tjing tjang for dripping wax to create borders which can be…

My own children's education was greatly enriched by the introduction of a GT music program. I have spearheaded many such a project in our local community. I hope this helps: Percussion Sets - Musical Instruments for Classrooms and Kids

Our state involves professional artists in their arts program. Unless they have changed things from ten years ago, the participating artists here are responsible to submit a two week lesson plan and they will lead the classes as a guest for that…

I think that the first issue will be to define the gifted and talent in the arts. These may be students from various advanced classes. Students who have discovered a love of the arts. One of the camp programs USDAN, has a great reputation for gifted…

Global survey for students

Maine has a student technology conference each spring; this year it's taking place on May 29th. The final session is something I'm involved in, along with Cheryl Oakes, Alice Barr, Kern Kelley and Jim Moulton, and we're trying to get data/perspectives from students around the globe to share with the students as part of a conversation about using Google tools and asking questions of the world. Picture an auditorium of 800 middle and high school students, all with laptops, all learning about the…See More

Ning answers questions

Posted on November 3, 2007 at 1:13pm 1 Comment

I was a little lost - had just enough ideas and information to know roughly were I wanted to go, but not the best route to get there. First I blogged it on my own blog, then I went looking for answers. I found similar questions and GREAT resources/answers right here at the Classroom 2.0 ning. The ability to search by tool, subject or area made this viable. While I still hope I get additional input via my blog post, I am already running with some key… Continue

Hey Sarah,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to your HS colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Sarah. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment. It's all about having fun with these new tools - which is certainly the best way for us all to learn. Stay tuned and Happy New Year! :-)

Hi
I read your request for networking classes and I will be very glad to help create this connection with students from Israel. I understand you are talking about 8th or 9th grade students? Please let me know.

The World Mind Network is planning an interchange similar to what your colleague in social sciences proposes. It is modeled partially after the 'eTwinning' project sponsored by the European Union. It will take place in mid-May. In addtion to European countries it will feature students in India and Africa.
Also, I see that you are an art teacher. Would your students like to help in establishing an Art 'node' for Friends Beyond Borders? You can respond here or at info@worldmindnetwork.net

Hello Sarah, I noticed that your a high school art teacher. I'm a high school senior and for my Web 2.0 class I'm designing a art/design course on fashion that is completely used by technology. I was wondering if there are any tips you could give me as to where to start my course. Are any of your lessons taught using technology and/or if there is any advice you could give me to get started it would be greatly appreciated.
