I like to use Web 2.0 tools like blogs, wikis, youtube, twitter to teach and to learn. So far I have enjoyed it. My students too. Web 2.0 and 3.0 tools open us a world of possibilities. With blogs, students have the opportunity to have a global audience. With them they are able to construct knolege togetter. With twitter they can know about famous (and unknown) people in real time. Besides, using theses tecnologies to learn prepare them better for the real world: a flat world, a world of online collaboration and online socialisation. I hope it could help you.

My best regards.

Not sure how much this will help you in the elementary classroom, since my focus is High School. I would suggest looking for Web 2.0 for Elementary in Bing or Google and see what you get.

I am the computer teacher at my school. I start with formal keyboarding in third grade using Dance Mat Typing and Type to Learn 3. My 3rd - 6th grades are graded in keyboarding skills and wpm during 2nd and 4th quarter report cards. I introduce the keyboard to 1st and 2nd graders so they are able to find the keys on the keyboard to write short things. I use Read Writ and Type. I also have the 1st graders use a program called Let's go Read, an Island Adventure (then Ocean Adventure) which helps them with their sounds and reading. I use Kid Pix with all grades, as well as Power Point and Word. We use the Internet quite often also. A good place to get more information is Elementary Tech Teachers website that I belong to. You can find it here: http://elementarytechteachers.ning.com/
I am still finding out new things to do that I am trying this year.
Hope this helps.
