Merle Hall replied to Michelle Nebel's discussion 'Middle School Technology Curriculum'
Wow! I just reread one of my older post. Way out of date now. First let me state all of our technology courses are in an online envirionment on Moodle. We don't print, or use text if they are not digital. This reduces much of the costs. It also…

Merle Hall replied to Elizabeth Crawford's discussion '2010 Speak up National Report'
This year was the first year I allowed students to use cell phones and MP3 devices in my classroom. It helped a lot that many of the students had devices since we were making podcast. The school did not have more that 8 laptops with MP3 capablities.…

Merle Hall replied to Derrick Waddell's discussion 'The Cloud: Shifting Education' in the group Moving to the Cloud
I am not sure what this means to ed tech. My tech dept. is very shy about cloud computing apps. They like to have a lot of control. Personally, I think the shift to cloud computing will enable more online classroom envirionments, (a good thing.) At…

Merle Hall replied to David R. Wetzel's discussion 'Wiki or Blog: Which is Better for the Classroom?' in the group E-Learning and Online Teaching
I would have to say it depends on how you want to use it. If you are just collaborating on an assignment a wiki would work fine. However, if Like me, you want to have an online class environment, where kids can get assignments, turn in work, get…

Hello Merle You are more than welcome to look around my sites. I have a teacher blog and class blog. I only use nings when on collaborative projects, so they are not actually mine per se.
If you blog with students, mine are always keen to work with others and give and receive comments back.
I live about 10 hours drive from Sydney, way down south in Victoria, 1/2 hour from the coast and 3 hours drive west of Melbourne. We come from a farming community.

Hello Merle, we always enjoy collaborating with other people. I use blogs, wikis nings and use videoconferencing but our time zone is no good for USA unless your students are willing to be in their homes. What age group do you teach?

Hello from Ft. Washington, PA (a Philly suburb)...I don't know how experienced I am with technology, it keeps coming at us so fast and furious that I hope to just keep up! I like this resource (Classroom 2.0) because it is a great way for teachers to help each other. Please let me know if I can be a resource for you.

Hi Merle,

With your work in Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
