About Me: My name is Melanie. I am a Special Education Continuous Improvement Facilitator for the Wyandotte Comprehensive Special Education Cooperative. I work with special education teachers in the Bonner Springs and Piper School Districts. The teachers I work with utilize a wide range of technology. Many of the teachers use Power Points and Smart Boards. I am taking this class to expand my knowledge in order to coach the teachers I work with to become familiar with and use technology in the co-taught general education classroom and the special education classroom. Personally, my husband, Brian and I are shocked that our daughter, Ava, is almost five and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall.

Classrooms for the Digital Age

I am definitely a digital immigrant. Ironically, my job is to support 35 teachers who teach digital natives. While I am not afraid of technology, I do have what Marc Prensky would define as a accent. On example of my accent would be that I send out a monthly newsletter and then print copies for each teacher to review at monthly meetings with teams of teachers.
