High school science teacher for 25 years. Six years ago I left the classroom to become a science coach as part of a Stark County, Ohio MSP grant. I have been working in this capacity ever since. I do model teaching, co-teaching, lead study groups and plan professional development for the science teachers in our district. It is quit different from teaching high school students.

Science Fair

Does your school have a science fair? If so, who participates? Is it required in some classes, all classes or is it completely voluntary? Any comments you can share about your science fair would be appreciated. We just held our 26th science fair and have revamped and revised it many times over the years. We have had hundreds of projects some years from those that received superiors at the state level to some that should never have been judged to small numbers with most of those projects… Continue

With all the demands on educators now, what motivates young people to go into education? When I started years ago there were no state tests, no standards based education and teachers could be creative. The public (parents) tended to support and respect teachers. It seems that now days that is no longer the case. Why do you want to become a teacher or why do you want to stay in teaching?
