I'm sorry that I didn't return your mesage before - It's been a busy few months and I've not been on the site at all! I probably missed your presentation for this information, but I will respond anyway.
I'm glad you like my wiki. The parents are the members - my students are under 13 so they can't join the site unless their parents create the account for them. Both the parents and students seem to really like it, especially the kids because they can see themselves and they enjoy watching each other's voki's and reading about each other. I like both vokis and podcasts, but for different reasons. Voki's are a great creative outlet for the kids, with a visual. We will be creating podcasts with our public issues unit we are doing in social studies in the next few weeks.
As far as google doc vs. wiki, I have google docs for private things like student files, and collaborative teacher projects. I prefer the wiki for parent collaboration and showcasing our classroom because it is public.
